Photolithography faithfully reproduces the drawn mark with stunning detail. This process is easy to master and you will soon find ways to take your print ideas to the next level. Participants will each make a 1 colour / layer zine and go home with a collection of zines, one from each participant! Join me at West Yorkshire Print Workshop for a weekend of alternative lithography! Lithography is the perfect process for artists who want to combine drawing with printmaking. Lino lithography is an accessible and low-toxic lithographic process that doesn’t require specialist equipment. Over the weekend we will be utilizing lino as our matrix, using it as a surface from which we will reproduce drawn marks using a myriad of drawing materials. We will also be combining carved elements using lino in the traditional relief way and layering colours using the lino as a surface for monotype. This weekend course is suitable for beginner printmakers and those who would like to explore a new printmaking process and take their drawing to the next level. Join me at Leicester Print Workshop for three days exploring the potential of printing with lino! Printmaking with lino can be so much more than simple linocut. Through traditional linocut we can achieve crisp lines and graphic marks, with etched lino we embrace the unpredictability of the etch to create organic and tonally varied mark making. With lino lithography we can reproduce painterly mark making and delicate crayon drawings. Not forgetting lino as a surface for monotype and intaglio line work. The possibilities for lino are endless! This workshop is suitable for all levels of printmaker from beginner to experienced artist. The processes will be demonstrated with workshop use in mind but can be easily adapted for printing at a non-specialist studio or kitchen table. Foil lithography is a wonderfully immediate process that translates the drawn mark beautifully in print. This workshop will take you through ways to develop your prints monotype, using resists, and incorporating multiple layers. We will discuss all the troubleshooting elements of the process to allow you use this process confidently on your own and you will leave with a small edition of prints and unique prints. N E X T L E V E L Photo lithography can be an intimidating process but once it's understood then the possibilities are endless. Through this workshop we will explore the boundless potential of intuitive mark making we can reproduce with photolithography. We will employ stencils and playful double exposure to make multi layered prints. Over the weekend we will embrace the principles of lithography and through multiple demonstrations we will cover all aspects of the process of photo lithography. We will explore and employ advanced techniques including; double exposure, colour overlays and caustic washes.
